Product Usage
Bu tane-1,4-diol is buta nediol, or but ane, in which one hydrogen of each methyl group is replaced by hydroxyl group. A colorless, water-soluble, room temperature viscous liquid (M.P.16 degrees Celsius) with a high boiling point (230 degrees Celsius) is mainly used in the production of other organic chemicals, especially solvent p'entane ring (also known as t'etrahydrofuran or THF). It has the functions of neurotoxin, original solvent and prodrug. It's buta nediol and ethylene glycol.
1,4-Buta nediol is used industrially as a solvent and in the manufacture of some types of plastics, elastic fibers and polyurethanes. In organic chemistry, 1,4-buta nediol is used for the synthesis of γ-'butyrolactone (G'BL). In the presence of p'hosphoric acid and high temperature, it dehydrates to the important solvent t'etrahydrofuran. At about 200 °C in the presence of soluble ruthenium catalysts, the diol undergoes dehydrogenation to form butyrolactone. Almost half of it is dehydrated to t'etrahydrofuran to make fibers such as Spandex. The largest producer is BASF. Why Choose US? 1.
